1. What is the PMP certification exam?

Since July 2026 the PMP exam has 180 questions (170 scored and 10 unscored pretest questions) in 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks. Questions cover three domains — People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26% — and about 60% of them use agile or hybrid approaches. Formats include case studies, single and multiple response, matching, hotspot and drop-down questions.

2. What education or work experience do I need?

Candidates with a four-year degree need 36 months of experience leading projects within the last 8 years. Candidates with a secondary diploma need 60 months within the last 8 years. Both need 35 contact hours of project management education — completing our PMP preparation course meets this requirement.

3. What does the PMP exam cost?

PMI members pay less than non-members, and the fee depends on your country. Check the current fee on pmi.org before you apply.

4. How long should I study?

We recommend about 9 weeks: 5 weeks studying and attending the course including practice exams, 3 weeks practising the final full exams on Elite's platform, and 1 week scheduling and preparing for your exam with PMI.

5. What study materials do I get?

Our PMP preparation students receive complete course materials, study aids and references, plus a 90-day subscription (extendable by 30 days) to Elite's online platform with thousands of practice questions in Arabic and English.

6. How do I apply for the exam?

Complete the application online at pmi.org.

7. How long does PMI take to process the application?

Online applications are typically processed within five business days.

8. How do I schedule the exam?

Once your application is approved, PMI sends you instructions to book a date and location (or an online session) with Pearson VUE.

9. What if I need to cancel after scheduling?

You can reschedule or cancel at least two full days before your exam date; a rescheduling fee may apply.

10. What if I don't pass?

You can retake the exam up to two more times (three attempts in total) within your one-year eligibility period.

11. How do I pay for the PMP preparation course?
